Blepharoplasty

About

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, is designed to rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids, this treatment removes excess skin and, where appropriate, repositions or reduces fat to soften heaviness, hooding, or under-eye bags.

Our philosophy is centred on natural-looking rejuvenation — restoring a fresher, more rested appearance without altering your identity.

On the Day of Surgery

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is commonly performed under local anaesthetic as a day-case procedure, while lower eyelid surgery may be carried out under sedation or general anaesthetic.

After a short recovery period, you may return home the same day.

Recovery & Aftercare

Swelling and bruising are expected and may extend into the upper cheeks, particularly after lower lid surgery.

Typical recovery times are:

• 10–14 days for upper blepharoplasty

• 2–4 weeks for lower blepharoplasty

• subtle refinement continues for several months

For the best recovery, we recommend:

• cold compresses for the first week

• sleeping slightly upright

• avoiding exercise and heavy lifting for 2 weeks

• antibiotic ointment to the incision sites

• lubricating eye drops if dryness occurs

• no eye make-up for 2 weeks

• avoiding rubbing the eyelids

Sutures are usually removed after 7-14 days, depending on the technique used.

Most patients feel ready to return to work and social activities after around 10–14 days, often with sunglasses helpful during the early recovery period
